Privacy Policy

ConstraLabs (“ConstraLabs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) builds AI tools for the construction industry. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

It covers both this website and our applications — including the Punch List mobile app and its Time Clock, which construction companies provide to their workers and supervisors on Android, iPhone, and the web.

Most people use our apps through an employer. If your employer gave you your account, they decide which projects and features you have, and they can see the work records described in this policy.

Through this website, we only collect information you choose to provide or that is needed to run the site:

• Demo & contact requests. When you fill out a form, we collect the details you enter — such as your name, work email, phone number, company, and the products or message you send us.
• Technical data. Standard information sent by your browser, such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed, which helps us keep the site secure and working.

Through our apps, we collect:

• Account information. Your name, work email, phone number, employer, role, and the projects you are assigned to.
• Work records. Your clock in and clock out times, shifts, travel between sites, notes you write or dictate, and the issues you report.
• Location. See section 3, which describes this in detail, including background location.
• Photos and video. See section 4.
• Voice input. See section 5.
• Device and diagnostic data. App version, device type, operating system, and a device identifier used to keep you signed in and to attach reports to the right phone. Your battery level is included with location reports so we can tell a phone that ran out of power from a worker who went home.

Our apps use your device location for three things:

• Confirming you are at a job site when you clock in or out by hand;
• Tagging an issue you report with the site it was found on;
• Automatic clock in and out — the feature we call Always Allow, which is optional and stays off until you turn it on.

We collect precise location. The first two uses happen only while you have the app open.

Background location. If you turn on Always Allow, the app also collects your location in the background — while the app is closed or not in use. It does this only during the working hours your employer has configured, and it records a position roughly every few minutes. It also registers geofences around your employer’s job sites so that arriving at one and leaving it can be detected.

Each location report contains the time, latitude and longitude, accuracy, speed, your device’s battery level, and which job site (if any) you were inside. It does not contain your device model, cell tower identifiers, or anything about your use of other apps.

You can always tell when it is running. On Android the app shows a permanent notification for as long as background location is being recorded; on iPhone the system location indicator is shown.

Why we collect it. So that arriving at a job site can clock you in and leaving it can clock you out, and a forgotten clock out does not cost you paid hours. We do not use location for advertising, and we do not sell it.

How to turn it off. Always Allow is off unless you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time from the Clock screen in the app, or by changing the location permission for the app in your device settings. Turning it off stops background collection immediately. You can still use the app and clock in and out by hand.

With your permission, the app uses your camera to photograph and record defects and site conditions, and can use photos you pick from your device library. Images and selected video frames are uploaded and stored as evidence against your employer’s project.

When video is recorded during a walkthrough, the live workflow does not upload the video file. Optional evidence video is uploaded only after recording and only without an audio track — our servers reject any video that still contains audio.

With your permission, the app uses your microphone so you can dictate notes and issue descriptions instead of typing. What happens to that audio depends on your platform:

• Android and the web. Speech is converted to text by your device’s own speech recognition service, and the app keeps only the resulting text. It does not record, store, or upload audio files.
• iPhone. Dictation uses Apple’s speech recognition. When your phone is online, Apple processes the audio under Apple’s terms, exactly as iPhone dictation does elsewhere; we neither receive nor store those bytes. When your phone is offline, recognition runs on the device.
• Recent iPhone app versions. A short dictated clip for an issue or task may be stored on your phone and uploaded to our servers, where it is sent to OpenAI for transcription only. The clip is kept with the report’s other evidence and is used for no other purpose.

Transcripts and audio content are never written to our application logs, analytics, or crash reports.

We use the information described above to:

• Respond to demo requests, questions, and support inquiries;
• Schedule and follow up on product demonstrations;
• Record time worked, produce timesheets, and clock workers in and out automatically where that feature is switched on;
• Record, organize, and route the site issues and evidence that users submit;
• Convert dictated speech into the text of a note, issue, or task;
• Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and our products;
• Protect against spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Our apps are workplace tools, so this is the most important sharing to understand. If you use our apps through an employer, the administrators and supervisors at that company can see:

• Your clock in and clock out times, and the hours and travel they produce;
• The issues, photos, video, and notes you submit;
• If you have turned on Always Allow — the job sites you arrived at and left during working hours, time spent off site, and where you stopped.

That is the purpose of the product, and your employer is responsible for how it uses those records. We do not share your information with other customers.

We share information with trusted third parties only as needed to run our services. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Google Play services — location and geofencing on Android devices.
• Apple — speech recognition for dictation on iPhone, under Apple’s own terms.
• OpenAI — transcription of dictated clips, and the AI features that draft and organize issue reports.
• Hosting, database, email delivery, and spam protection providers — to run the service and this website.

We use only the cookies and similar technologies necessary for the site to function and to keep it secure. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.

We keep information you submit through the website for as long as needed to respond to your request and for legitimate business or legal purposes.

Work records — time entries, issues, and their evidence — are kept for as long as your employer’s account is active, and afterwards only as long as we need them for legal or business purposes.

Raw location points collected in the background are kept for a limited retention period set by your employer, 90 days by default, and are then deleted. The clock in and clock out records derived from them are kept with your other time records.

• Always Allow can be switched off at any time from the Clock screen in the app.
• Location, camera, and microphone permissions can be denied or revoked at any time in your device settings. Features that depend on them stop working — for example, you cannot clock in by location without location access — but the rest of the app continues to work.
• Notifications can be turned off in your device settings, except the notification Android requires us to show while background location is being recorded.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Where you use our apps through an employer, that employer controls your work records, so we may direct your request to them or act on their instructions. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our website and apps are workplace tools intended for adults in professional settings. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
